Pied Piper Charm VINTAGE Silver
Pied Piper Charm VINTAGE Silver
Silver Pied Piper Charm
An unusual pied piper of Hamelin charm, made during the mid-twentieth century.
The Pied Piper of Hamelin is a legendary figure from German folklore, most famously recorded by the Brothers Grimm. According to the tale, the town of Hamelin (spelled Hameln in German) was suffering from a rat infestation in the year 1284. A mysterious man dressed in colourful clothing appeared, promising to rid the town of the rats in exchange for payment. He played a magical pipe to lure the rats into the River Weser, where they drowned. However, when the townspeople refused to pay him as agreed, he returned on Saint John and Paul’s Day and used his pipe to lead away the town’s children, who were never seen again. The story is widely interpreted as a cautionary tale about broken promises and consequences, and it has inspired numerous literary and artistic adaptations over the centuries.
