Birds on a Wire Love Token Charm – ANTIQUE
An exquisite love token featuring two swallows on a wire, made during the early 1900s. Originating in Germany or Austria, this fine antique charm is decorated with enamel, which is in very good condition, with only very minor wear (as shown in photos). The two birds sit on a wire, beneath a star and with a rooftop and chimney beyond.
I have not been able to identify the object on the left, enamelled in white; it would be interesting to know what this is as it may hold meaning in the design, although sometimes these the meanings were only understood by the giver and receiver as a personal or private message or reminder.
It has been engraved on the reverse with the name M. Zell.
800 Grade silver, measuring 19mm (just under ¾ in) diameter.
