Mexican pinto bean. Originating from Peru, pinto ('painted') beans were introduced to Europe in the 15th Century and, no longer predominantly a filler for burritos, they are enjoyed by almost every culture in the world today. Highly nutritious with excellent fibre content, pinto beans are celebrated as one of the world's healthiest foods.
