An Australian slouch hat is a wide-brimmed felt or cloth hat with one side of the brim turned up. It is a familiar piece of military and cultural attire in Australia and is most famously associated with the Australian Army. The slouch hat was first adopted by Australian military forces in the late 1800s, gaining iconic status during World War I, especially with the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps).
