Marius Hammer Bullfinch Brooch ANTIQUE
An absolutely exquisite and very rare bullfinch brooch pin by Norwegian silversmith Marius Hammer (1847-1927). The little bird is perched on a branch with green leaves. The background is a gorgeous pearl white guilloche enamel which has an unusual 'moonstone' effect. This is a wonderful piece for any Marius Hammer collector or anyone interested in jewellery from Norway.
CONDITION: Excellent. Two minor areas of enamel loss on the very edges at 2 o’ clock and 9 o’ clock. Very minor overall tiny surface marks consistent with age (see all photos).
FASTENING: C clasp. MARK/S: Maker’s Mark and 930S.
MATERIAL: Silver 930/1000 (which is higher than usual sterling standard of 925), Enamel.
